After huge amounts of Local, National and International press coverage,  the new Mayor of Competa has been elected. On Sunday 27th May 2007 those that were eligible went along to the designated polling stations in the village of Competa to register their vote for Mayor. This would also ultimately decide the 11 councillors who would represent the village of Competa for the next 4 years

On Sunday 27th May 2007 those that were eligible went along to the designated polling stations in the village of Competa to register their vote for Mayor. This would also ultimately decide the 11 councillors who would represent the village of Competa for the next 4 years.

The polling stations closed at 8pm and then the counting of votes began in the Town Hall. At 10.30pm the new Major was officially announced as Jose Luis Torres Gutierrez (The Current village Priest) representing Independiente

The installation of the new assembly will take place on Saturday, June 16th 2007.
